Going to the Wolves 7-8 May

Good to get moving again, and a gentle day to start, down as far as Brewood, (pub dinner, menu a bit boring, prices a bit high but no washing up) with a long day ahead for Wednesday up the flight of 21 locks to Wolverhampton. The Shroppy is gorgeous:
If uneventful.  Dead straight for ages. Yawn.
We started early, about 7.30am, aiming to get up the locks and into the city by early afternoon.  We shared driving and locks, somewhat unequally as Andrew worked 14 of the 21, and every single one, bar 1 when a boat passed going downhill, was set against us. Fair play, the boat ahead was singlehanding but we only slowly caught up: impressive work from her.
Once at the top, we found no other boats moored there. Now, Wolverhampton doesn't have a bad name among boaters, but there were feral looking youths hanging about, so we decided to head on to Tipton. A bonus couple of hours cruise! But through pretty parkland and increasingly clear waters, displaying all the weed waiting to tangle our propellor.
I have no clue why this is displaying sidewise.
But a lovely quiet night.
